Mission Statement
The Religious Education Ministry of Our Lady of Mercy Parish strives to form faith-filled disciples of Jesus the Christ. Through a challenge to life-long conversion to gospel values, and ever deepening relationship with God and a growing understanding of Catholic tradition, we seek to equip and train all members of our faith community to be "builders of the Reign of God".
Vision Statement
The Community of Our Lady of Mercy provides a warm and supportive environment to help you develop an evangelized heart, an informed mind and a fulfilled Christian lifestyle. Our ministry of instruction, faith-sharing and example will call you into stewardship and service within and beyond our parish community.
Goals
- To provide a program of formal, developmentally-appropriate instruction in the faith of the Catholic Church for children and youth.
- To support parents and guardians in their role as primary catechists of their children.
- To offer sacramental preparation to children and youth.
- To encourage young people to be open to the challenge of and to develop an appreciation for the Scriptures and Catholic teaching.
- To allow youth to experience the church as a community of love and support.
- To motivate youth to live lives of charity and justice rooted in gospel values.
- To assist all participants to encounter God in personal prayer, to celebrate God's Word in communal worship and to be aware of God's presence at all times.
- To make available programs to meet the diverse spiritual and fomational needs of the adult membership of the faith community.
